THE JOURNEY SO FAR

2001 -2004

From a working party of four Councilors –Community Consultation provided the Council with sufficient data to enable a decision to form and brief a Trust and to provide them with Consultant’s reports on the social, economic, financial and initial site assessment.

2005 –August   

At inception, the the Trust was briefed by the Council to research and determine the sporting and other facilities to be included in a stadium/pool complex for Ashburton.

2006         

During this year the the Trust Members travelled New Zealand wide to visit similar facilities in other cities. A study of the information provided by the Council on site assessment was completed and a recommendation provided to the Council.In October 2006 the the Trust appointed Alan Jolley as Project Manager and moved quickly to establish a design team to produce a concept design for further evaluation.

2007         

A concept design was prepared and presented to the Council in June of this year. This concept was released to the public and the design team was expanded to include Financial Consultants to undertake feasibility studies of the development concept

2008         

Feasibility study completed and presented to Council in March.
Council initiative to broaden site investigation with Council Consultant commenced in February
Concept revised resulting from feasibility study –non performing area deleted.
Revised cost concept presented to Council in June
Council Consultants complete site study in December the Trust submits recommendation to Council
December the Trust final report completed and presented to Council for their consideration
