Project update - July 24th 2010

Council names preferred site ... Riverside Terrace

The Riverside Terrace reserve site is on recreation reserve land on River Terrace and Smallbone Drive in the central Ashburton area. The land is recreational reserve vested with Ashburton District – and therefore able to be utilised for a sports and recreation facility like that planned. The site plan to the right shows the proposed layout of the site.

The site is approximately 8.5 hectares in size with the proposed Aquatic Centre and Indoor Stadium facility taking up around 3 hectares of this area. This means the majority of the reserve will remain available for passive recreational use – walking, picnics, dog exercise and the like.
